The purpose for HB 309 is to encourage a healthy workplace environment by providing State employees more time to file their complaints. Most victims do not report harassment until they are safe, or if they feel their own experience may prevent someone else from experiencing harm. HB309, increases the period of time for an applicant or employee to file a complaint alleging certain prohibited personnel actions from 30 days to 1 year; and provides up to 2 years to report harassment complaints. 

The purpose of House Bill 424 is to provide regular interest on contributions in a nonvested account while the member is active in any other Maryland State Retirement and Pension System. 

Standing up to an abuser takes incredible courage. House bill 174 brings healing. This bill requires an assistant State’s Attorney to meet with a sexual assault victim after a decision by the Office of the State’s Attorney not to file a charging document against an alleged suspect or to dismiss charges against an alleged suspect. This bill is about good customer service to victims of sexual violence. This bill is the right thing to do.
